Once upon a time there was a business man, who had a heart.

Although one hundred years has now passed since the establishment of the Finnish company, Helkama, the bicycles carrying the Helkama label are still produced following the principles of the company founder. This explains why the products must be good, long-lasting and correspond to the real needs of the people. In order to guarantee the quality of the bicycles, Helkama designs them to withstand the harsh Nordic weather conditions. The company also produces many of the parts at its own factory. Production is concentrated at Hanko, a city at the southern tip of Finland.

In Finland, Helkama bicycles are already a household name. An historical example is the Helkama Jopo bike that came in the 1960s, and became one of the symbols for that decade. Jopo and many other Helkama bikes have already for generations been carrying flaxen-haired children to and from school, and have been an important part of everyday life throughout this small Nordic country.
